After the baptism ceremony in the Palatine Chapel, Adriano takes us to another historically and artistically rich site in Palermo: the Convento di Baida [Baida Abbey]. In Italian, the term convento is used more commonly than monastero [monastery] and may house either male or female religious communities.

He uses the term piano nobile, which indicates the floor of a mansion where the noblemen or landowners lived, as opposed to the floors where the servants' quarters and kitchens would have been.

Edo is an illusionist, and with Eleonora's assistance, he shows us some tricks with newspaper cuttings and a deck of cards, all with Mount Vesuvius as a backdrop.

After his encounter with Mauro, Adriano faints on the sidewalk. Grazia reads about his fainting in the newspaper and visits Adriano in the hospital.

Wonderful aerial photography shows Castel del Monte and its crown-like octagonal shape. Frederick II was particularly fond of the castle because it was an ideal location to hunt small game with his falcons.

We learn why Dalmasso asked Mauro to stay on at the Olivetti firm. Adriano pays a visit to Mauro's house to find out if his suspicions are correct.

Ferruccio, the kitchen hand, tells Dante about a conversation he overheard and this creates a little friction between Eva and Dante. Lorenzo hasn't been showing up for meals at the restaurant and Eva learns why.

Adriano asks Karen Bates to travel to Italy's southern regions to scout out a location for an Olivetti factory. Mauro, after being passed over for a job, decides to go and work for Dalmasso.

Eva pays a visit to Augusto, a friend and safe-cracking expert, while Lorenzo and Malù break up. Later, Eva and the ladies hold a planning session for their caper.
