It's the eve of Ferragosto, the big August holiday. Imma has her mind on work, but in the midst of the dinner table chatter, she turns her attention to her daughter, Valentina, who is still not speaking to her.

Welcome to Saigon! Oriana goes to the press office and meets François Pelou, a war correspondent from France. There is a crisis going on and together, they attempt to head it off.

Dafne and her father get to the old family homestead. Dafne goes about opening it up as they talk about her mother and how she loved the place.

In the middle of the night, Mimmo finally comes up with the refrain to the song that would become famous the world over. He can't curb his enthusiasm and calls Franco and Gramitto, even though it's three in the morning.

Imma convinces Nunzia to talk. And she has plenty to say. Imma and Calogiuri discuss the case as they go to the supermarket for groceries, since the next day, all the shops will be closed.

Oriana writes about the conditions of Muslim women in Islamic countries. In 1967, she goes to South Vietnam, a country being torn apart by war.

Dafne has no trouble chatting up a storm and making friends with the two forest rangers. She and her father get dropped off near the cemetery.

Three months have passed, and Mimmo and Riccardo are still trying to find the right lyrics for the song. Their frustration comes to the surface and the song risks going up in smoke.

Imma gets some important information from the beautician. Back at her in-laws' house, Imma tries to remove the tattoo, and Pietro is helping his mother in the kitchen. Calogiuri calls with some new information, which Imma wants to act on right away.

Oriana has to argue with her boss to be able to go around the world interviewing women. In 1961, she manages to fly to Pakistan but is frustrated by how hard it is to even talk to another woman.

While they are hiking, Dafne's father gets a curious phone call. It brings up the subject of smoking, which Dafne does not want to let go. Later, they meet up with some forest rangers, and Dafne asks for some first-aid items for her foot.

As Franco Migliacci wakes up after his hangover, he sees the poster he bought of Chagall's famous blue painting, and starts writing some lyrics. Later on he gets together with Mimmo, and has to be cajoled into showing him what he has written.

During the bus ride, Imma sees someone with a familiar-looking tattoo and finds out where it came from. They arrive at Pietro's mother's house, where they need to make introductions, since Imma's mother doesn't recognize anyone.

Lisa's goal in meeting with Oriana is an interview, which Oriana clearly does not want to give. But she tells about when she was a ruthless interviewer herself, in both Italy and the U.S.

Dafne and her father leave the lodge and resume their hike on an uphill trail.
