In this new season, Lele has moved to Australia with his new wife and twins, and back home, the household has gone through some changes. Maria is studying to be a doctor, there's a new tenant in Lele's room, Ciccio is a teenage handful as well as his cousin Alberto, and Annuccia is becoming more independent, but Grandpa Libero and Cettina are there, trying to hold down the fort, as usual.

Grandpa Libero goes over to the university with Fausto, looking for Alberto. Maria doesn't show up at school to pick up Annuccia, and so Annuccia starts walking home by herself. Nowadays kids would never be allowed to leave school unattended.

Guido manages to catch up with Ciccio on the train. Ciccio doesn't want to talk, but Guido talks about when he was Ciccio's age and engages him. Back home, everyone is on tenterhooks, hoping Ciccio will come back.

Neither Guido nor Nonno Libero can sleep, so they both gravitate to the kitchen. They start getting comfortable with each other, and one way to do that is dare del tu (to use the familiar form of address).
