As Camilla and Dora try to catch a tram, there is a terrible accident, or at least, it looks like an accident. Meanwhile, at home, Renzo seems to be preparing for an evening out without Camilla and is trying to come up with a plausible excuse. You will probably learn the adverb purtroppo (unfortunately) in this segment!

During the filming of Heaven's Gate, there were some dicey moments where De Sica had to deal with the German troops and needed all his wits about him. At the same time his crew was cooped up in the basilica and didn't always behave as they should — in fact, tutt'altro (anything but). Imma talks to her old friend, Don Mariano, and he shows her the model of the deceased architect's pet project, never completed. Then, along with Calogiuri, Imma goes to the morgue where she is not welcome. Calogiuri's eye proves to be invaluable.

Camilla is teaching her class, but is having trouble masking her distress over her friend. She goes to the police station where the officers have some questions for her.

Actors, including Alberto Sordi, who were performing at the Quattro Fontane (four fountains) theater on the fateful day of 23 March 1944 are in danger of being caught by the Germans. During the filming of his movie, De Sica leaves the safety of the basilica just once and is caught and questioned by a Nazi General about why the film is taking so long to be shot.

Lele goes to Irene's house, but neither he nor Irene is really at ease. Meanwhile, the Martini's next-door neighbor stops by to complain about the dog.

Manzi comes up with a creative way to introduce a letter that isn't technically in the Italian alphabet. Now, Manzi is famous and gets a lot of attention even when walking in the park with Ida. She feels a bit left out.

Giuseppe goes to see Giorgio in his fancy doctor's office, hoping to convince him to see Cloe. It's clear Giorgio has chosen the career path of least resistance, and seems more interested in fine art and fine cigars, than in treating patients who need it.
