Giacomo finds a way to obtain the money he needs for Mario. There are strings attached, however, and he informs his sister about it. Giacomo makes a surprise visit to Mario's house, and Ginevra makes a surprise phone call to Mario. Things are closing in on him from all sides.

Adriano knows what kind of portable typewriter he wants to build and he knows who can build it. He thinks he knows what people want, even better than the people themselves.

Maybe, just maybe, Mario is starting to feel bad about what he is doing. Giacomo confides in his sister about the money he needs, and Mario has a surprise encounter at a vending machine he is supplying.

Adriano decides to run the factory his father left him. He imagines a factory that supports culture and beauty, respects women, and is a life model. Mauro has a hard time agreeing with him, given the financial problems they face.

Mario explains karma to a friend. Giacomo surprises his sister at the office. And sister and brother even have a bite to eat together there at the end of the day.

The Olivetti siblings have to decide whether to sell a stake in the factory or not. During the discussion, Paola arrives with the children.

Mario gets invited to dinner at Giacomo's parents' house without Giacomo's knowledge. They have him figured out, and ask him to disappear. Giacomo shows up at the office, as promised.

The war is over, and Adriano goes back to Ivrea. The company is barely surviving, and Adriano's siblings look to him for solutions.

Mario manages to put certain ideas in Giacomo's head so that when he gets to the meeting with the notary, he is not the complacent brother everyone is expecting.

Adriano's father has decided to leave him the factory, but Adriano is not so sure about that. Adriano is still very much in love with Paola after two years apart.

Mario is repaying some debts and buying presents for his family, but his efforts go unappreciated. Giacomo's family is becoming alarmed at how much money he is spending, and decides to do something about it.

The family has realized that staying is not a wise choice, so, reluctantly, everyone starts getting ready to leave their beautiful home.

Giacomo reveals his "discovery" to his family. He tells Mario about the girl he likes. Mario manages to leave with a nice check, signed by Giacomo.
