Some years have passed since the first episode, and Alberto and Ida's family has grown. Alberto's friend Eugenio shows up one day with a very important gift for the family. Everyone is thrilled except for Alberto. Back at the university, where Alberto had accepted a job, his superior is interrupted in the library by someone looking for Professor Manzi.

Giuseppe stays late at work, which he is not allowed to do, and he gets an unusual visitor.

Renzo is in a good mood as he arrives home from his day and he decides to deliver the roses left for his mother-in-law in person. Camilla is arriving at the apartment with the eggs she needs to make crepes.

Di Nardo and Romano go to see Nunzia's mother. She and her two sons are surprised by the visit and are on the defensive but one name keeps coming up as the policemen question them. At headquarters, Pisanello is studying a series of alleged suicides he is suspicious about.

Even with all the activity swirling around, with the visitors, fellow patients, and doctors, Luigi feels very alone with his symptoms and his thoughts, just like anyone else who has undergone surgery.

Giuseppe's passion for his work puts his patients' well-being ahead of following the rules and getting chastised by his superiors. Giorgio is much more easygoing and as soon as the shift is over, is ready to have fun.

Torre and Berardi found some useful information at Nic Bianco's villa. At home, Camilla is cooking but is missing an ingredient and goes to see her mother.

Aragona meets up with Marina outside of the workplace and she feels freer to give up some information. Then Lojacono and Aragona go to see the notary again. He is not alone.

Doctor Zamagna tells Luigi what he did during surgery, but although it went well, Luigi doesn't feel so great.

Giuseppe walks through the market and witnesses a scene whereby a carabiniere policeman chases down a kid who was trying to steal some food. The kid is one Giuseppe has seen before.

Alberto is doing the right thing, but it's not easy. He goes to the reformatory for a last meeting with the director. This is the finale of the first of two episodes in this mini-series.

Gaetano is not one hundred percent convinced of Camilla's version of how the murder occurred. Renzo goes to a Merengue lesson but gets a surprise while dancing with Pamela, the instructor.

The architect is not happy about his visitors from the police and is on the defensive about Nunzia, the girl. As he is having dinner at his usual spot, Lojacono gets a phone call from the PM.

The hospital personnel have a special relationship with the elevator. There is a new female walking the corridors and nobody fails to notice her. Doctor Zamagna goes to see Luigi.

The evening Giorgio planned to spend with Cloe doesn't turn out as he had hoped. The next day at the hospital, on their first day of work, Giorgio and Giuseppe get to know Sister Helga who rules with an iron fist.
