Maura seems eager to help Paolo overcome his problems with girls, but he is a tough nut to crack. At home, he dresses up in his father's hat and coat and goes out (over the objections of his mother who is tutoring a child in German).

Paolo starts studying but keeps thinking about Maura. When his brother comes in, he confesses to having fallen in love and wants to surprise the girl by taking her for a drive.

At the police station, Paolo's parents are embarrassed by their son's behavior. The architect has connections and tries to negotiate. Paolo's parents express their deep disappointment with him.

After a passionate moment, Paolo finally manages to tell Maura that he is falling in love with her. However, she has some unexpected news for him.

Three months have passed since Maura left for London and Paolo is consumed by doubts and jealousy. His friends tease him and when she calls his house, his mother won't let him talk to her.

Paolo goes to the beach to meet Maura, and when she gives him her important news, he thinks she's joking. Maura, hurt by Paolo's reaction, goes to get some support from her friends who aren't much help.

Paolo asks Polio for advice on how to convince Maura that he is serious. In the evening, on the beach with his friends, Paolo prepares to prove to Maura that he loves her with a test of courage.

After the failed love challenge, Paolo leaves the hospital and starts getting serious with Maura. When their baby girl is born, however, he is forced to ask his family for help, but they impose a condition.

Paolo and Maura celebrate their wedding with a simple lunch in the company of friends. Paolo starts his new job, where he meets two of his colleagues and is shown his desk.

At work, Paolo finds himself doing what he used to do in his school days. At home, however, as he and Maura paint the walls of their new home, he sees a Spider convertible in a newspaper ad for the movie, La dolce vita and starts fantasizing.

Paolo and Maura take their little girl to her grandmother's so they can spend some time together. Maura wants to go to the movies, but Paolo has a surprise for her, and they speed off in the Spider.

After the enthusiasm of the morning when they arrived, Paolo can't sleep because he thinks he's a failure and wishes he could change his life. Maura tries to comfort him, but she also has some news.

Caravaggio is a TV mini-series based on the life of the Italian painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. It opens in 1577 when the painter was 5 years old. The plague had just hit and people who were still alive were burning their household possessions.

Some years have passed, and Michele's widowed mother has had some difficult decisions to make regarding her children. One of these is to send 12-year-old Michele to Milan to be an apprentice at the workshop of the well-known artist, Simone Peterzano. Michele has no desire to leave home and family.

Michele has a rough time of it in Master Simone's workshop. It's clear, however, that he has talent. A Knight of Malta comes into the workshop to have a look.
