Paolo goes to meet Maura and when she tells him the important news, he thinks she's joking. Maura, hurt by Paolo's reaction, goes to vent to her friends who, however, have no words of comfort.

Paolo asks Polio for advice on how to convince Maura that he is serious. In the evening, on the beach with his friends, Paolo prepares to prove to Maura that he loves her with a test of courage.

After the failed love test, Paolo leaves the hospital and starts getting serious with Maura. When their baby girl is born, however, he is forced to ask his family for help, but they impose a condition.

Paolo and Maura celebrate their wedding with a simple lunch with friends, which will also be offered to them by one of them. Paolo starts his new job where he meets his first colleagues and is shown his desk.

At work, Paolo finds himself doing what he used to do in his school days. At home, however, he dreams with Maura of having a spider (convertible), and with some promissory notes, he buys it despite his parents' disapproval.

Paolo and Maura take the little girl to her grandmother so they can spend some time together. Maura wants to go to the movies, but Paolo has a surprise for her and they speed off in the convertible towards madness.

After the enthusiasm of the morning when they arrived, Paolo can't sleep in the evening because he thinks he's a failure and would like to change his life. Maura joins him and comforts him, also giving him another piece of news.

Paolo enjoys composing songs with his friend to distract himself while Maura, pregnant with their second child, puts little Elisabetta to bed. When the little one is born, at the hospital friends joke about the heir and Paolo's steady job.

Paolo skips work because he wants to dedicate himself to what he really likes to do. When Faber invites him to perform, at first Maura seems annoyed but in the end she supports him.

Paolo, after a show, receives a proposal from an impresario to perform in his theater. Later, at the company Christmas dinner, he is given the task of organizing the gift exchange, an occasion on which he decides to give a sincere speech.

After the company Christmas dinner is over, Paolo returns to Maura, who seems almost relieved that it went badly. For Christmas Eve dinner, the two join the children at the grandparents' house, but an inevitable conversation awaits Paolo.

While the parents shout all their disappointment and disillusionment at Paolo, Maura enters the room to defend her husband and ask her in-laws to encourage him. But as soon as she returns to work… Paolo already has a brilliant plan in mind and his father will find out, whether he likes it or not!

Paolo and Maura go to the theater to see Jannacci's show, but he suddenly fell ill and has a very high fever. Chiesa then asks Paolo to save the evening.

Paolo briefly improvises to announce Jannacci's absence and, between jokes and banter, gets a surprisingly positive response from the audience. After saying goodbye to Chiesa, he is approached by a well-known figure who makes him a proposal.

Paolo is worried about the future and dissatisfied with his job at Cosider. Maura is by his side and together they decide to go to Rome to understand how things will evolve.
