Zakary goes into more detail about his encounter with Donata. Imma starts getting suspicious about some of what Zakary describes and has a flash of realization. She sends Diana away and has some questions for Calogiuri.

Imma has a conversation with Lolita who says she doesn't know anything and had nothing to do with the whole story. Imma is sure she is hiding something, but whether she murdered her friend is a different story.

Calogiuri has an intimate moment with Maddalena and attempts to get some truthful answers from her.

Imma tells Maddalena how she thinks things went and Donata opens up. But Imma still has questions about the case.

Imma is having a relaxing moment at home, lost in thought, when the doorbell rings, and she gets curious. Valentina is at a cooking demonstration.

Calogiuri has become a marshal. At Imma's house, the morning is going fairly normally, when a phone call from Diana comes. It can't be good.

Imma is troubled, both by seeing Calogiuri again and finding a new dead body. She looks around the apartment and goes to see the seamstress who had found the body.

Valentina has begun studying again, and talks to Bea after class. There is a cloud over Imma's office, as she and Calogiuri talk about the case.

Imma goes to join Calogiuri in the area of Matera where homes and churches were built into the rock. There are i sassi (cave houses carved out of the rocks) and the lamioni, barrel-vaulted rooms leading to the cave houses. She is guided by Eustacchio, a kid she thinks should be in school. But he knows quite a bit about the history of the place.

For once, Valentina comes home in a good mood. Imma tells Pietro about her ex-classmate's murder. Don Mariano has a conversation with Samuele, a kid who seems to be in contact with Valentina, but who evidently has had some problems with the law.

Lombardi shows up for an informal meeting to talk about a building project. Meanwhile, Imma is driven to Grottole by Matarazzo who is going a bit too fast.

Imma and Matarazzo go to the butcher shop in Grottole and find out some information from both the butcher and a woman seated there. Calogiuri has a little information from the coroner for Imma.

Imma and Calogiuri manage to interview Bizzari who admits a few things about Stella. Diana confesses that even though her husband has come home, it's not any better than before, when he was gone.

Imma stops by to see her mother, who has been opening all the drawers, creating more work for Nikolaus, her caregiver. Imma and Matarazzo make the trip, on narrow mountain roads, to Ginosa, where De Nardis lives. He invites them in.

Imma interviews De Nardis who tells a good story, not that Matarazzo and Imma are totally convinced, however. And then they go to the bar and find out a bit more about their suspect.
