La Stazione Spaziale Internazionale è una stazione spaziale il cui obiettivo è quello di sviluppare e testare tecnologie per l'esplorazione spaziale in grado di mantenere in vita un equipaggio in missioni di lunga durata in orbita lunare e marziana. Per fare questo, si sta lavorando sulla piattaforma Gateway: una stazione spaziale fuori dall’orbita terrestre.
