Il Tevere (chiamato anticamente prima Albula e infine Tiberis) è il principale fiume dell'Italia centrale e peninsulare; con 405 km di corso è il terzo fiume italiano per lunghezza. Il nome attuale deriverebbe secondo la tradizione dal re latino Tiberino Silvio, che vi si sarebbe annegato.
