Dopo tre fasi di pulitura, sul dipinto sono apparsi dei particolari che i restauratori hanno riportato alla luce. Una particolarità della Resurrezione è il fatto di aver trovato, sotto l'opera stessa, alcune lettere dell’alfabeto. Si tratterebbe di una citazione di un passo della raccolta di lettere indirizzate da Seneca a Lucillo, le Epistulae morales ad Lucilium. La frase completa, diventata un popolare motto nel Quattrocento, è "omne humanum genus morte damnatum est", ovvero "tutto il genere umano è condannato a morire".
