Caterina and Lara go to speak with the retired director of the orphanage. Talk at police headquarters centers on Lara's upcoming wedding and Manara tries to play it cool, but doesn't fully succeed.

De Carolis goes to police headquarters to give Manara some more information but Raimondi is there, too, and takes over. While at police headquarters, De Carolis gets a menacing phone call from the kidnappers.

The one time Toscani is on duty at night, it's also his turn with little baby Alice. Sardi and Toscani find a solution.

Early in the morning, Lara goes to wake Luca up to tell him what she finally remembered. It turns out to be of utmost importance.

The situation is tense. Lara and Luca are worried about Marta, but they don't want to blow her cover, nor injure her. At a certain point, Lara decides she can't wait any longer.

Natali's confession didn't help the case very much, and De Carolis has trouble staying calm. Meanwhile Lara has done some research, giving them some hope of finding the little girl.

Lara and Luca go to the convent in search of Clarissa. Later, Toscani has some new information for Luca.

De Carolis finishes telling his story. Marta leaves, as does Raimondi. Lara asks a big favor of Luca.

Detective Lojacono is transferred to a police station that is considered to be the worst of the worst. Judging from his first encounter there, it seems he has his work cut out for him.

Detective Lojacono meets his team and learns why they talk about the "bastards." He also learns what the future holds for the police station.

Special agent Aragona read the files on all his colleagues and relates his findings to Lojacono. And we find out what Lojacono did, too. We also discover where he has his meals.

At the police station, Lojacono takes a phone call about a homicide. The team has been instructed expressly not to take on anything other than ordinary business. This is decidedly not ordinary business, but Lojacono is no ordinary policeman, apparently.

Lojacono has a careful look at the corpse and the surrounding area and draws some conclusions. His superior shows up and naturally wants to put Lojacono in his place, sending him right back to the station house, with the district attorney looking on.
