The police are armed, in position, and ready to move. Their mark shows up, and the money is on the table. Then things get dicey.

Luca and Marta learn that the amphorae were never actually found. Luca enlists the help of Giusy Vasto to try and find them while trying to get more information from her. Marta isn't thrilled about this.

Luca and Giusi go diving for the amphorae. Rivera forgets her place and tells Luca what she thinks.

Toscani and Sardi seem to be getting along better. At police headquarters, some very interesting news crops up, and Luca realizes what he has to do.

Things are hopping. Luca and Toscani go out to the scuba diving test in a speedboat. Rivera, left alone at police headquarters, has to take matters into her own hands when she answers Toscani's phone.

Luca questions young Guglielmo and gets the answers he needs. He is less satisfied with the conversation with Giusi Vasto. Rivera listens to it all.

There's a new member of the Toscani family, Sardi apologizes to Marta for her behavior, and Ada confides in Luca about a discovery she has made.

There is reason for celebrating the end of the case and the return of the amphorae. But Manara gets some more information about inspector Rivera and has a hard time letting things go.

This new episode starts off with a bang (pun intended). We also get a glimpse of what home life is like, now that Sardi has brought her baby home from the hospital.

The investigation has begun. The girl who was shot is still alive. Luca apologizes to Marta, and Marta gets a mysterious phone call. Toscani has a hard time staying awake.

Manara and Toscani go to the cheese factory. They don't find the answers they are looking for, but think someone there wants to talk. Marta asks for a little time off to go to her appointment.

We still don't know much about Marta Rivera's mysterious appointment, just that it was with the chief. A worker from the cheese factory shows up at the police station to give her statement.

Manara goes to see Casadio, asking for something he knows will be refused to him. He is actually in search of information on Rivera's earlier visit there. Buttafuoco and Barbagallo seem to think there is going to be a surprise party, since an assortment of cheeses was delivered to the police station.

Luca goes to see signora Martini in the hospital. When he gets back to the police station there is a secret ballot going on. Caterina shows up at the end.

Caterina talks to Luca in his office. Toscani brings a fax that looks more like a newspaper or a bed sheet, it's so long. Luca hatches a plan that involves Ada, Toscani, and himself. Ada's new guest seems to like her!

Manara and Toscani go on a secret mission. Luca takes a lot of risks, but gets some important information. Toscani catches up on some much-needed sleep.

After his night trying to outwit the dogs, Manara is not thrilled with Toscani. Ada gets flowers, and Marta gets a phone call.

Some officers slept through the night, others didn't, and this creates some tension at the police station. The mysterious truck driver is identified, and the analysis results of the milk used by the Soleri company to make cheese have come in.

The police squad goes to the Dairy to arrest Mister Soleri, and Manara hunts down Ivan Iordan.

Luca and Marta question the Bulgarian. Laura Martini suddenly remembers what happened to her on the night of the shooting. The report from ballistics comes through.

Marta and Luca discuss the latest dead end. But what if Mrs. Martini was not the target at all?

The moment has come to discover why Marta was the true target of the attack. And the moment has come for Luca to deal with his unorthodox confiscation of the Bulgarian's gun.

We recognize the name of the inspector from Rome. Marta recognizes the face. Later, at the farm hotel, Luca is on cloud nine getting ready for a romantic dinner with Marta, until Ada knocks at the door with some news. She milks it for all it's worth.

We're at the beginning of a new episode, and we see right away that Luca hasn't hesitated to find some consolation... But he has to rush to police headquarters where there's been a shock for Quattroni. Waiting for him are Raimondi (the new inspector), Rosmini, Rivera, and Toscani.

The murder victim, Mr. Ponti, was on his way to the police station to report a break-in when the crime occurred.

Three scenes: An article in the newspaper attracts the squad's attention, Manara questions the maid, and Fabrizio, the inspector, questions Manara.

Toscani and Manara are at pretty much of a standstill as far as evidence and witnesses go, but Ada says something that makes Manara want her on the team.

Manara talks to two different people who knew the murder victim. One comes to him, and the other tries to run away.

Manara is being closely watched, but that doesn't stop him from doing things his way. Actually, there are two cases to solve.

The episode revolves around little Valeria's coming baptism. Sardi is able to change Luca's dark mood with a DVD. Ada tries to figure out who sent her flowers, and she also reveals some information obtained while shopping for a baptism gift.

They still don't really have a lead, but Manara is convinced the two murders — Viazzi and Ponti — are connected. They have to look into Ponti's past.

Sardi and Toscani are nervous about choosing the godparents for little Valeria's baptism. Later, Toscani gets lucky about finding some evidence. When speaking to Raimondi about it, he almost comes out with a colloquial expression but thinks better of it. The complete idiomatic expression would have been una botta di culo [a stroke of the butt]. Culo [ass] is often used to mean "luck," either good or bad. So he had a stroke of luck, or, in modern language, "he got lucky."

It's time for the baptismal ceremony. Manara has reason to believe there's something going on between Marta and Fabrizio, and Toscani and Sardi have a tense moment before going into the church.

The baptism is taking place, and it's clear that Sardi and Toscani have made up with each other. Luca and Marta, however still have some things to clear up. Ada is still hunting for the person who sent her flowers, but she gets a little help from the florist. The party favors, ugly as they are, seem to enlighten Manara about the case.

Manara's intuition takes him on a search for a crucial missing element in the case. He tries and fails to explain his thought process to Marta. But together they make some very important discoveries about the suspects.

Manara has the proof he needs and goes looking for Pietralonga. An unusual chase scene ensues.

Manara succeeds in solving the case. But Raimondi is not happy at all and calls Manara into his office.

Luca Manara has been suspended, so he is acting as if he were on vacation, and as if he didn't care about the new crime that has been reported.

Now that Manara is off duty, someone has to take over, and there's an awkward moment at the crime scene. Manara finds himself going to the market with Ada; after all, he has nothing better to do.

Marta meets the victim's family at the bus stop. Fabrizio compliments Marta on her work. Luca is hanging out with Sardi and baby Alice.

Toscani and the team go to see Manara in order to fill him in on the case and try to convince him to give them a hand. They are a long way from solving the case and use the wonderful, common expression in alto mare (at sea, on the high seas) to say this. We also learn something new about Marta Rivera.

Manara can't sit still, and goes to see Ginevra after hours, casting a "casual" glance on the murder victim. Marta and Toscani show the security camera DVDs to Raimondi. Manara goes to the pier to get information from a guy he knows there.

Rivera and Raimondi go looking for Mister Binacci, the victim's friend, with whom he had bought the boat. Manara is there, lurking, and Marta avoids him being seen by Raimondi. Meanwhile, Toscani and Sardi obviously have a secret and don't agree about whether to tell Luca about it.

The squad interrogates Pupi, the murder victim's coworker at the winery. Luca gets to listen in on the interrogation and the ensuing discussions via Toscani's cellphone.

Marta has conversations with both Manara and Raimondi, neither of which is she too happy about. The term innominato or unnamed makes reference to the evil character in Alessandro Manzoni's novel, I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed).

Manara sneaks up on the winery owner's daughter and the stockroom guy. Toscani and Sardi ask Manara to run an errand, claiming they have 41° C fevers [105.8° F] as a ruse to get him to come over.

Luca goes to see Sardi and Toscani. He opens the door and sees a familiar face he hasn't seen in a while. They go out for some seafood together.

Marta and Ginevra talk about the toxicological report, but also about personal things. Luca and Lara say goodbye to each other, and Luca connects with Stefani's daughter by chance, giving him another opportunity to participate in the investigation.

The questioning continues at the station house. Manara's co-workers are keeping him up to date, in person. But they get an unexpected visit.

Luca gathers some more information about the case when he goes to see Laura's mother. Toscani and Marta go to the place where the DVD was thrown away.

Manara may have been suspended, but that's not keeping him from working on the case in his way. Buttafuoco and Barbagallo go to the dump to find the DVD.

Barbagallo and Buttafuoco find the DVD at the dump, but it doesn't show the clear evidence they were hoping for. Manara is working in the shadows, however, and comes up with something. He calls on Marta for help.

Luca has resolved the case, and Marta arrives with Fabrizio to take over from him. But who could have predicted what happened next?

Marta confides in Ginevra about Luca's declaration of love. Meanwhile, a bus arrives in town, and, as the passengers are getting off, there's a problem. At the same time, Luca is giving Ada a hard time as she drives him to the bus stop to meet his sister.

The investigation gets going. Luca, officially still off duty, had just come to meet his sister at the bus, but naturally, he can't help getting involved in the case, which causes a bit of confusion on the team. Rosmini comes to examine the victim.

Tiziana is confused because she has no clue that she might be a suspect. Raimondi, who shows up with Rivera, is confused because he doesn't realize Tiziana is Luca's sister. Poor Tiziana!

Manara, and Raimondi meet with their chief, Casadio to discuss the case and Manara's status, but the meeting has an unexpected outcome. Meanwhile, the only real suspect is Luca's sister!

Manara is back in the saddle. Raimondi leaves for Rome after a frank conversation with Luca, and another one with Marta. Quattroni has some important information weighing on him, and goes to talk to Manara.

During questioning, the passengers seem to agree about one person getting back on the bus during the rest stop: Luca's sister. Buttafuoco and Barbagallo finish up checking the luggage, but they come across an extra bag.

The contents of the blue backpack point to a possible motive. Luca talks to his sister again, but she is still visibly upset, which is understandable. Marta finally talks to Luca about what has been weighing on her for a while.

Luca goes to see Ginevra about the autopsy, but he confides in her, too. Toscani is having trouble telling Luca the results of his investigation into the passengers of the bus.

Luca is very upset with his sister. He feels betrayed and starts getting really worried, both for her and for himself, since he has gone out on a limb for her. The investigation continues.

Marta is very convincing in her role as a sexy dancer at the night club, maybe too convincing. The situation takes a darker turn and she gets more and more concerned.

After questioning the bus driver, Luca isn't convinced he's the murderer. Meanwhile, Tiziana doesn't seem to be taking house arrest very seriously.

Rivera and Manara review the surveillance video of the bus and see something new. Meanwhile, Tiziana seems to have fallen in love.

Marta and Luca are getting closer to the truth and gradually find more pieces to the puzzle, thanks, in part, to some good police work by Barbagallo and Buttafuoco.

Marta and Luca manage to figure out what happened, and Luca tells the story to his boss, Casadio. Manara gets out of the office with the excuse of a physical therapy session.

With some prodding by Marta, the scene where Luca is lying on the ground and says "I love you" comes into focus for him.

At police headquarters, everyone is thinking about what they will do when they get off work, but then there is a phone call that changes everyone's plans. A fall onto the rocks by the beach, a book with an intriguing design, and we're off to a new episode with Luca Manara.

The investigation begins. Manara and Rivera go to see the victim's wife, while Toscani calls a tow truck. Then all hell breaks loose in a house nearby, where there's been a gas leak.

The autopsy report comes, and Manara goes to talk to the victim's widow. Marta goes to talk to his lover. Marta gets a phone call, and her colleagues realize, with surprise, who her father is.

Both the victim's wife and his lover are questioned at the same time, one by Luca, and one by Marta. Each has a very different memory of what Fello was like.

How good of a painter was the victim? Not all the people who knew him have the same opinion. Luca and Toscani go to see the picture framer and learn a few things.

Luca and Marta finish their conversation but get interrupted. Later, Luca looks after Alice so that Toscani and Sardi can have an evening out. While he is there he makes a phone call.

While having a drink with Ginevra, Luca notices a painting that looks like it could be one of Fello's. The next day, as he is waiting to talk to his boss, Raimondi shows up and asks him for a favor.

Casadio says the case is clear to him, and doesn't seem very open to Manara's theories. Marta talks to Cristina and finds out Fello had recently bought a camera he urgently needed.

Marta and Luca keep looking for the camera. They go to the house Di Maggio had wanted to have restored but now has to sell. They also return to the scene of the crime.

Luca, Marta and Di Maggio go to his house and make a discovery. Little Alice is making a fuss and Luca comes to the rescue. Raimondi and Marta have a serious talk.

Luca and Marta get interrupted by a phone call and Luca rushes off to where Buttafuoco is waiting for him.

Casadio is in a strange mood, due to some discussions with his wife. After Manara leaves his office, there are some imprevisti (unexpected events) that give him a new lead in the case.

Truth triumphing over falsehood is not only the theme of the fresco, but is also the theme of this segment. Marta and Luca zero in on their latest suspect.

We're at the end of this episode, where the famous fresco has been restored. Truth, symbolized in the fresco, is the buzzword of the moment but in ordinary life, it often remains hidden.

Manara meets first with Casadio and then with Raimondi, but doesn't get his answers answered to his satisfaction. But then, he gets a phone call about a dead body, so he has to race off.

Rosmini takes a look at the body. Manara talks to the woman who found the dead man. He goes back to the police station where the new member of his squad is waiting for him.

As Lara and Luca go to question the victim's wife, it turns out a third dog has gone missing. Luca can't help but notice how self-assured Lara has become.

The card that came with the flowers for Lara contained an important message. One of the people Luca wants to question comes to the police station of his own accord.

Lara plans to go and stay at her aunt's house, though Caterina is gone. Luca is clearly preoccupied when he goes to the morgue to talk to Ginevra about the autopsy.

Manara's team goes to the hunters' bar to find Nino La Martina and have some lunch at the same time, perhaps. There was perhaps a bit more action than they were prepared for, but, of course, that goes with the job.

Nino La Martina is questioned by Luca. Toscani and Lara's injuries are being taken care of, but Luca offers to take Lara to the emergency room. She has another suggestion to make.

Ada and Pio go dancing, but when they get back to her place, they get an unexpected interruption. A bit later, Ada innocently reveals some new elements to the case, and Luca comes back to life from his doldrums.

We see the difference between Luca's by the seat of his pants investigative technique and Lara's more scientific technique. They both have their place, but in this case, Luca's is more effective. The team makes some headway, even if it is just to eliminate some suspected murder weapons.

Manara has an unusual conversation with his boss, Lara has a phone conversation with her aunt, and Luca and Ada have a conversation about relationships.

Ginevra is tuned in to Luca's mood and they talk about what might be causing it. His mood doesn't keep him from figuring out some new details about the case, however. Some viewers will catch him as, in a moment of humility, he makes a fleeting reference to another police chief in a very successful TV series.

Brigadiere, Aunt Caterina's dog, gives Luca an idea regarding the investigation and he and Lara are off. Speaking of animals, in his phone call with Toscani, Luca uses an idiomatic expression featuring an animal. Get some insight about it in this lesson.

The dogs are sent off to do their job. There is a moment of tension when both Luca and Lara realize some things never change.

The truth comes out as Lara and Luca question the count. The canine heroes are returned to Ferruccio's widow.

Luca gets a phone call that pushes him to take action on his own. He gets a huge surprise, however.

In this rather bizarre way of meeting up, Luca and Marta clarify their feelings. Lara and her aunt catch up at breakfast. Meanwhile, there's a new murder to investigate.

Sardi is back in service. Luca goes out to look for someone who might have made the anonymous phone call about the death.

Luca is trying to stay out of the kidnapping case, but he is feeling pressure on several fronts to do something about it. Zia Caterina is not someone to whom you can easily say "no."

Luca takes some action on the case he and Lara are working on secretly. He goes to see Ginevra about the autopsy, and he also gets an interesting and gossip-worthy visit from Julie.

Lara manages to track down the jeweler through her colleagues in Olbia. The information she and Luca receive from him is surprising as well as concerning. At the same time, it allows them to consider the case to be officially theirs.

Toscani finds out who the woman with no face is. Aunt Caterina shows up at police headquarters to remind Lara about an appointment for her wedding dress.

Caterina and Lara go to speak with the retired director of the orphanage. Talk at police headquarters centers on Lara's upcoming wedding and Manara tries to play it cool, but doesn't fully succeed.

De Carolis goes to police headquarters to give Manara some more information but Raimondi is there, too, and takes over. While at police headquarters, De Carolis gets a menacing phone call from the kidnappers.

The one time Toscani is on duty at night, it's also his turn with little baby Alice. Sardi and Toscani find a solution.

Early in the morning, Lara goes to wake Luca up to tell him what she finally remembered. It turns out to be of utmost importance.

The situation is tense. Lara and Luca are worried about Marta, but they don't want to blow her cover, nor injure her. At a certain point, Lara decides she can't wait any longer.

Natali's confession didn't help the case very much, and De Carolis has trouble staying calm. Meanwhile Lara has done some research, giving them some hope of finding the little girl.

Lara and Luca go to the convent in search of Clarissa. Later, Toscani has some new information for Luca.

De Carolis finishes telling his story. Marta leaves, as does Raimondi. Lara asks a big favor of Luca.

Lara's wedding with Guglielmo is about to start, but guess who is missing?

We're sorry to get to the end of this popular and exciting series. After this rollercoaster of a relationship between Lara and Luca, who knows how it will end?
