Natali's confession didn't help the case very much, and De Carolis has trouble staying calm. Meanwhile Lara has done some research, giving them some hope of finding the little girl.

The one time Toscani is on duty at night, it's also his turn with little baby Alice. Sardi and Toscani find a solution.

De Carolis goes to police headquarters to give Manara some more information but Raimondi is there, too, and takes over. While at police headquarters, De Carolis gets a menacing phone call from the kidnappers.

Caterina and Lara go to speak with the retired director of the orphanage. Talk at police headquarters centers on Lara's upcoming wedding and Manara tries to play it cool, but doesn't fully succeed.

Toscani finds out who the woman with no face is. Aunt Caterina shows up at police headquarters to remind Lara about an appointment for her wedding dress.

Lara manages to track down the jeweler through her colleagues in Olbia. The information she and Luca receive from him is surprising as well as concerning. At the same time, it allows them to consider the case to be officially theirs.

Luca takes some action on the case he and Lara are working on secretly. He goes to see Ginevra about the autopsy, and he also gets an interesting and gossip-worthy visit from Julie.

Luca is trying to stay out of the kidnapping case, but he is feeling pressure on several fronts to do something about it. Zia Caterina is not someone to whom you can easily say "no."

Sardi is back in service. Luca goes out to look for someone who might have made the anonymous phone call about the death.

In this rather bizarre way of meeting up, Luca and Marta clarify their feelings. Lara and her aunt catch up at breakfast. Meanwhile, there's a new murder to investigate.

As Lara and Luca go to question the victim's wife, it turns out a third dog has gone missing. Luca can't help but notice how self-assured Lara has become.

We're at the end of this episode, where the famous fresco has been restored. Truth, symbolized in the fresco, is the buzzword of the moment but in ordinary life, it often remains hidden.

Truth triumphing over falsehood is not only the theme of the fresco, but is also the theme of this segment. Marta and Luca zero in on their latest suspect.

Casadio is in a strange mood, due to some discussions with his wife. After Manara leaves his office, there are some imprevisti (unexpected events) that give him a new lead in the case.

Luca and Marta get interrupted by a phone call and Luca rushes off to where Buttafuoco is waiting for him.

With some prodding by Marta, the scene where Luca is lying on the ground and says "I love you" comes into focus for him.

Marta and Luca manage to figure out what happened, and Luca tells the story to his boss, Casadio. Manara gets out of the office with the excuse of a physical therapy session.

Marta and Luca are getting closer to the truth and gradually find more pieces to the puzzle, thanks, in part, to some good police work by Barbagallo and Buttafuoco.

Rivera and Manara review the surveillance video of the bus and see something new. Meanwhile, Tiziana seems to have fallen in love.

After questioning the bus driver, Luca isn't convinced he's the murderer. Meanwhile, Tiziana doesn't seem to be taking house arrest very seriously.

Marta is very convincing in her role as a sexy dancer at the night club, maybe too convincing. The situation takes a darker turn and she gets more and more concerned.

Luca is very upset with his sister. He feels betrayed and starts getting really worried, both for her and for himself, since he has gone out on a limb for her. The investigation continues.

Luca goes to see Ginevra about the autopsy, but he confides in her, too. Toscani is having trouble telling Luca the results of his investigation into the passengers of the bus.

The contents of the blue backpack point to a possible motive. Luca talks to his sister again, but she is still visibly upset, which is understandable. Marta finally talks to Luca about what has been weighing on her for a while.

During questioning, the passengers seem to agree about one person getting back on the bus during the rest stop: Luca's sister. Buttafuoco and Barbagallo finish up checking the luggage, but they come across an extra bag.

Manara is back in the saddle. Raimondi leaves for Rome after a frank conversation with Luca, and another one with Marta. Quattroni has some important information weighing on him, and goes to talk to Manara.

Manara, and Raimondi meet with their chief, Casadio to discuss the case and Manara's status, but the meeting has an unexpected outcome. Meanwhile, the only real suspect is Luca's sister!

Tiziana is confused because she has no clue that she might be a suspect. Raimondi, who shows up with Rivera, is confused because he doesn't realize Tiziana is Luca's sister. Poor Tiziana!

The investigation gets going. Luca, officially still off duty, had just come to meet his sister at the bus, but naturally, he can't help getting involved in the case, which causes a bit of confusion on the team. Rosmini comes to examine the victim.

Marta confides in Ginevra about Luca's declaration of love. Meanwhile, a bus arrives in town, and, as the passengers are getting off, there's a problem. At the same time, Luca is giving Ada a hard time as she drives him to the bus stop to meet his sister.

Luca has resolved the case, and Marta arrives with Fabrizio to take over from him. But who could have predicted what happened next?

Barbagallo and Buttafuoco find the DVD at the dump, but it doesn't show the clear evidence they were hoping for. Manara is working in the shadows, however, and comes up with something. He calls on Marta for help.

Manara may have been suspended, but that's not keeping him from working on the case in his way. Buttafuoco and Barbagallo go to the dump to find the DVD.

Luca gathers some more information about the case when he goes to see Laura's mother. Toscani and Marta go to the place where the DVD was thrown away.

The questioning continues at the station house. Manara's co-workers are keeping him up to date, in person. But they get an unexpected visit.

Marta and Ginevra talk about the toxicological report, but also about personal things. Luca and Lara say goodbye to each other, and Luca connects with Stefani's daughter by chance, giving him another opportunity to participate in the investigation.

Luca goes to see Sardi and Toscani. He opens the door and sees a familiar face he hasn't seen in a while. They go out for some seafood together.

Manara sneaks up on the winery owner's daughter and the stockroom guy. Toscani and Sardi ask Manara to run an errand, claiming they have 41° C fevers [105.8° F] as a ruse to get him to come over.

Marta has conversations with both Manara and Raimondi, neither of which is she too happy about. The term innominato or unnamed makes reference to the evil character in Alessandro Manzoni's novel, I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed).

The squad interrogates Pupi, the murder victim's coworker at the winery. Luca gets to listen in on the interrogation and the ensuing discussions via Toscani's cellphone.

Rivera and Raimondi go looking for Mister Binacci, the victim's friend, with whom he had bought the boat. Manara is there, lurking, and Marta avoids him being seen by Raimondi. Meanwhile, Toscani and Sardi obviously have a secret and don't agree about whether to tell Luca about it.

Manara can't sit still, and goes to see Ginevra after hours, casting a "casual" glance on the murder victim. Marta and Toscani show the security camera DVDs to Raimondi. Manara goes to the pier to get information from a guy he knows there.

Toscani and the team go to see Manara in order to fill him in on the case and try to convince him to give them a hand. They are a long way from solving the case and use the wonderful, common expression in alto mare (at sea, on the high seas) to say this. We also learn something new about Marta Rivera.

Marta meets the victim's family at the bus stop. Fabrizio compliments Marta on her work. Luca is hanging out with Sardi and baby Alice.

Now that Manara is off duty, someone has to take over, and there's an awkward moment at the crime scene. Manara finds himself going to the market with Ada; after all, he has nothing better to do.

Luca Manara has been suspended, so he is acting as if he were on vacation, and as if he didn't care about the new crime that has been reported.

Manara succeeds in solving the case. But Raimondi is not happy at all and calls Manara into his office.

Manara has the proof he needs and goes looking for Pietralonga. An unusual chase scene ensues.

Manara's intuition takes him on a search for a crucial missing element in the case. He tries and fails to explain his thought process to Marta. But together they make some very important discoveries about the suspects.

The baptism is taking place, and it's clear that Sardi and Toscani have made up with each other. Luca and Marta, however still have some things to clear up. Ada is still hunting for the person who sent her flowers, but she gets a little help from the florist. The party favors, ugly as they are, seem to enlighten Manara about the case.

It's time for the baptismal ceremony. Manara has reason to believe there's something going on between Marta and Fabrizio, and Toscani and Sardi have a tense moment before going into the church.

Sardi and Toscani are nervous about choosing the godparents for little Valeria's baptism. Later, Toscani gets lucky about finding some evidence. When speaking to Raimondi about it, he almost comes out with a colloquial expression but thinks better of it. The complete idiomatic expression would have been una botta di culo [a stroke of the butt]. Culo [ass] is often used to mean "luck," either good or bad. So he had a stroke of luck, or, in modern language, "he got lucky."

They still don't really have a lead, but Manara is convinced the two murders — Viazzi and Ponti — are connected. They have to look into Ponti's past.

The episode revolves around little Valeria's coming baptism. Sardi is able to change Luca's dark mood with a DVD. Ada tries to figure out who sent her flowers, and she also reveals some information obtained while shopping for a baptism gift.

Manara is being closely watched, but that doesn't stop him from doing things his way. Actually, there are two cases to solve.

Manara talks to two different people who knew the murder victim. One comes to him, and the other tries to run away.

Toscani and Manara are at pretty much of a standstill as far as evidence and witnesses go, but Ada says something that makes Manara want her on the team.

Three scenes: An article in the newspaper attracts the squad's attention, Manara questions the maid, and Fabrizio, the inspector, questions Manara.

The murder victim, Mr. Ponti, was on his way to the police station to report a break-in when the crime occurred.

We're at the beginning of a new episode, and we see right away that Luca hasn't hesitated to find some consolation... But he has to rush to police headquarters where there's been a shock for Quattroni. Waiting for him are Raimondi (the new inspector), Rosmini, Rivera, and Toscani.

We recognize the name of the inspector from Rome. Marta recognizes the face. Later, at the farm hotel, Luca is on cloud nine getting ready for a romantic dinner with Marta, until Ada knocks at the door with some news. She milks it for all it's worth.

The moment has come to discover why Marta was the true target of the attack. And the moment has come for Luca to deal with his unorthodox confiscation of the Bulgarian's gun.

Marta and Luca discuss the latest dead end. But what if Mrs. Martini was not the target at all?

Luca and Marta question the Bulgarian. Laura Martini suddenly remembers what happened to her on the night of the shooting. The report from ballistics comes through.

The police squad goes to the Dairy to arrest Mister Soleri, and Manara hunts down Ivan Iordan.

Some officers slept through the night, others didn't, and this creates some tension at the police station. The mysterious truck driver is identified, and the analysis results of the milk used by the Soleri company to make cheese have come in.

After his night trying to outwit the dogs, Manara is not thrilled with Toscani. Ada gets flowers, and Marta gets a phone call.

Manara and Toscani go on a secret mission. Luca takes a lot of risks, but gets some important information. Toscani catches up on some much-needed sleep.

Caterina talks to Luca in his office. Toscani brings a fax that looks more like a newspaper or a bed sheet, it's so long. Luca hatches a plan that involves Ada, Toscani, and himself. Ada's new guest seems to like her!

Luca goes to see signora Martini in the hospital. When he gets back to the police station there is a secret ballot going on. Caterina shows up at the end.

Manara goes to see Casadio, asking for something he knows will be refused to him. He is actually in search of information on Rivera's earlier visit there. Buttafuoco and Barbagallo seem to think there is going to be a surprise party, since an assortment of cheeses was delivered to the police station.

We still don't know much about Marta Rivera's mysterious appointment, just that it was with the chief. A worker from the cheese factory shows up at the police station to give her statement.

Manara and Toscani go to the cheese factory. They don't find the answers they are looking for, but think someone there wants to talk. Marta asks for a little time off to go to her appointment.

The investigation has begun. The girl who was shot is still alive. Luca apologizes to Marta, and Marta gets a mysterious phone call. Toscani has a hard time staying awake.

This new episode starts off with a bang (pun intended). We also get a glimpse of what home life is like, now that Sardi has brought her baby home from the hospital.

There is reason for celebrating the end of the case and the return of the amphorae. But Manara gets some more information about inspector Rivera and has a hard time letting things go.

There's a new member of the Toscani family, Sardi apologizes to Marta for her behavior, and Ada confides in Luca about a discovery she has made.

Luca questions young Guglielmo and gets the answers he needs. He is less satisfied with the conversation with Giusi Vasto. Rivera listens to it all.

Things are hopping. Luca and Toscani go out to the scuba diving test in a speedboat. Rivera, left alone at police headquarters, has to take matters into her own hands when she answers Toscani's phone.

Toscani and Sardi seem to be getting along better. At police headquarters, some very interesting news crops up, and Luca realizes what he has to do.

Luca and Giusi go diving for the amphorae. Rivera forgets her place and tells Luca what she thinks.

Luca and Marta learn that the amphorae were never actually found. Luca enlists the help of Giusy Vasto to try and find them while trying to get more information from her. Marta isn't thrilled about this.

The police are armed, in position, and ready to move. Their mark shows up, and the money is on the table. Then things get dicey.

Everyone is a bit tense for one reason or another. Marta and Luca discuss Miss Vasto, Sardi is having a rough time in her last days of pregnancy, and consequently so is Toscani. But the team is ready to move in on a suspect.

There's lots going on at police headquarters. Even Caterina shows up at just the right moment.

The big question is: Why did Mineo spend so much money on deep diving equipment he couldn't afford?

Thanks to Rosmini, Manara gets rid of his symptoms, but not the problem itself. Toscani is under a lot of pressure from his very pregnant wife.

Luca questions some potential witnesses and suspects. He also takes his personal problem to someone who might have the necessary expertise to help him solve it.

Manara's fumbling with his computer had some potentially disastrous consequences. Meanwhile, the report from forensics is in, and Luca goes to question Giusi — without Rivera.

Luca has an embarrassing moment, and worrying, too. But there is a new case to distract him from his problems. This time, a deep sea diver is found dead.

Manara wraps things up, and he does it with kindness. But later, he gets an unexpected visit.

Giulia Parri and Righini, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, come in to police headquarters to clear up a couple of things, but then Manara has one of his famous moments of great intuition.

The team is at its best this time. And someone who is usually in the sidelines steps in with prontezza (quick reflexes) and brings this case to a climax.

Manara's team decides the best way to find out what's going on with Righini and Parri is to go to the post-contest party that evening.

Luca gets himself into an embarrassing situation with Marta. But he somehow wriggles out of it with an undercover assignment for her.

Tension rises between Marta and Manara. Then Manara gets stopped by the police. It's just routine, but there's a glitch.

Luca is able to talk to Giulia's father, and then with Giulia herself. He also talks to the people from the newspaper. Marta receives a mysterious phone call.

Luca and Caterina meet up by chance and and are chatting when Caterina's phone rings. Later, Luca and Marta meet up at Ada's and talk about the case, but not only.

Another suspect gets questioned, and then Toscani gets questioned by Manara, on a totally different matter.

While Toscani is investigating Rivera, Luca questions a contestant who gives him some interesting new information.

The cause of death has been discovered, but that's about all. Manara talks to the members of the Miss Maremma jury.

There are various mysteries to be solved, but Luca seems preoccupied with the mystery surrounding the new inspector.

Toscani has some news about who was on the jury. All the contestants in the Miss Maremma contest come to police headquarters for questioning.

This new episode takes place in the world of beauty contests. Manara seems slightly distracted in both his dreamworld and the real world.

Inspector Rivera is very much appreciated at Police Headquarters, and so is Manara, but for different reasons and by different people.

The team figures out how the crime happened, and Manara has to reveal his more compassionate, sensitive side to bring this investigation to an end.

Marta proves herself to be smart and intuitive. This leads to a new perspective on the case.

With Lara gone, Luca seems to want to make up for lost time, and flirts unabashedly with all the women he comes into contact with. Fortunately, he also gets down to work, and has a man to man talk with one of the suspects.

Little by little some of the suspects are being eliminated, but the situation is far from clear.

Officers Barbagallo and Buttafuoco get some good evidence, but Manara doesn't quite appreciate their guessing-game humor. He goes to question the new suspect.

Luca Manara and Marta Rivera are both curious about each other. But Marta has better luck. Manara and Toscani go to see the victim's husband, who learns some things about his wife he hadn't been aware of.

Lara isn't around, but her presence is felt by everyone, in different ways. And they all want to know how Luca is feeling about it, but he's a closed book and just focuses on the case.

Marta goes for a ride on Luca's motorcycle as they look for a mysterious South American barman. Ginevra meets Marta and seems to like her a lot.

Interviewing the husband of the deceased was uncomfortable, since there were delicate questions to ask. Back at headquarters, Luca learns whether or not it was his hair on the pillow, and Marta has some insights that make the others roll their eyes.

Manara gets to run the case, and the new inspector arrives to welcomes that range from very warm to very icy.

Manara goes to question the neighbors. When he goes to see the chief to talk about the case, he gets a little surprise.

There is some very unusual and disturbing news waiting for the team of investigators.

There's a departure, for sure. Lara gets on that big blue bus and says goodbye, but there is an arrival, too.

Ada brings coffee to the room where the new guest is staying. But it's Ada who gets a rude awakening.

We've come to the moment of truth for Luca and Lara. Neither of them is happy, but they both know, deep down, that it's the right thing to do.

In the case, the sad truth comes out. Luca and Lara are both very somber for their own reasons. The only happy person seems to be Toscani who discovered traces of blood on the cane.

In this episode, we have the straw that breaks the camel's back as far as Lara is concerned. Toscani has a good moment.

Toscani knows he's doing a good job, but is frustrated because Manara doesn't ever acknowledge it. Meanwhile, Luca must have an idea since he goes prancing around the office. In fact, he knows exactly what he's doing.

Luca finds out some important information from the housekeeper, and he also finds out, quite by accident, about Lara's course in Milan.

The case is discussed at the dinner table among Lara, Luca and Aunt Caterina. As usual, Caterina knows a lot about the people involved. She also gives Lara some advice.

Lara has a hard time resisting Luca's charms. Sardi and Toscani don't seem to be on the same wavelength. But somehow, they are getting closer to having some interesting information, if not concrete evidence.

Lara is doing some thinking, and confides in Sardi. Meanwhile, there is a definite lead in the case about the burglarized villas.

Luca is acting a little strange and Ginevra doesn't help things. Meanwhile, there has been some mysterious activity over at the nursery.

Not much information is cropping up from the investigation, but Lara has an unusual meeting with Casadio.

It's a busy day for the police. A prime witness ends up in the emergency room at the hospital, and there have been three burglaries, one after another.

A romantic moment gets rudely interrupted by another murder. But do Luca and Lara have the same idea about living together?

Even though the case has been solved, Luca gets yelled at by Casadio. To understand their parting words, there's an idiomatic expression to learn. Chi va con lo zoppo impara a zoppicare (He who goes around with a lame person learns to limp). A similar expression in English is "bad company brings bad habits."

The truth surfaces, and we see a flashback of the fatal event. It's a painful moment for everyone involved.

The race ends, and Manara discovers what he came to find out. He also discovers that Lara is a very capable cop.

As expected Manara's boss doesn't give him permission to infiltrate the race. Do you think that will stop him?

Luca questions Lupo, and figures out how to find out for sure who murdered Gabriele, but as usual, he's immune to warnings about how dangerous it will be.

There's some girl talk between Lara and Sardi, Luca is not a great dinner guest, and Buttafuoco and Barbagallo make an interesting discovery.

Luca's charm works like a charm and he's able to obtain the information he needs from the woman in the motorcycle shop.

Luca confides in Toscani who is, however, not very encouraging on the subject of marriage. Lara calls with some information, and Luca goes back to question Lupo.

Rubino and Sardi go to question Elena, Gabriele's ex-girlfriend, while Manara questions Elena's current boyfriend.

Lara and Luca have been skirting the marriage issue, but they do finally talk about it, albeit briefly. Meanwhile, they get some new information about the case.

Toscani, Lara, and Luca are working on the case, but Toscani is clearly distracted. Luca tries to get some information from Gabriele's rival.

Ada provides Luca with some welcome company, food, and gossip. Ginevra communicates the cause of death, while Luca and Lara toss around a couple of different possible hypotheses surrounding the motorcyclist.

Luca and Lara are doing the best they can to work on the case despite their inner turmoil. Luca's sister wants to help him, but there's a limit to what she can do.

Lara and Luca go into work mode automatically, to try and solve this new, upsetting case, but they each have private, unhappy thoughts that keep turning around.

By popular request, Manara is back with some new adventures. Everything is in place for a joyous celebration, with wedding bells, but is it too good to be true?

A beach party concludes this episode, and season. Love is in the air!

Emotions are running high in this segment and we're hoping that Lara gets found, and that she's alive.

The tension is almost unbearable for everyone. But when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

We get a taste of what life is like at police headquarters without Luca. We also see that Lara learned some bad habits from Luca, going off on her own on a hunch.

It's time for Luca to say goodbye to his colleagues and friends. It's a sad moment for everyone.

There are plenty of people—women, actually— to send Luca off on his bus, but he keeps looking around for a certain someone to show up...

In this segment, we see a flashback to Iolanda's murder. She was an honest woman through and through. And it looks like Manara confirms his resignation, now that the case has been solved.

What would the police do without Lara's aunt Caterina? She knows just where to look to get precious information about the case.

Luca's mind is going full speed ahead, and this leads him to invite Lara and her aunt to the movies. The outing ends up revealing an extremely delicate and awkward situation, but an important one for the case.

Luca is about to pack his bags, but there are still some suspects to question. And Lara has some questions for Luca, too.

On this last day of Luca's service, everyone is working hard to get to the core of the case.
